APM has a commitment to developing its employees. We'll develop you for success in your role; for an enduring sense of service to our clients; and for skills that will enhance your ability to relate to others inside and outside the work environment, including leadership skills.

We believe that responsibility for development sits first with employees themselves. We encourage you to understand your own strengths and development areas, to have honest conversations with your managers around development opportunities, and to seek out opportunities to learn.

Your Line Manager is responsible for having regular conversations with you, encouraging you to reflect on what you have done well and what could be done better, and helping you identify opportunities to improve your performance even further.

Finally, the HR and Learning functions within APM are responsible for ensuring the right learning is available for you to perform in your role, to understand and meet our customers' needs, and to achieve our strategic plan.

At APM learning comes in many forms, including:

  • On-the-job experiences
  • Peer coaching
  • Coaching and development discussions with managers
  • Secondment and project opportunities
  • Formal learning including online and face-to-face facilitation

Induction

APM provides induction to all new staff joining the company. Induction includes a national program of online modules and telelinks. There are checklists that managers will use to ensure you understand the APM administrative and clinical procedures and to undertake competency based training in the relevant area.

Online Modules

APM has an online training resource program. Modules are offered according to an employee's business unit and new training modules are being added regularly. Some of these modules are compulsory before you perform any work in a given speciality e.g. Workers Compensation Case Management in the various States.

There are also modules that provide you with ‘skills development' opportunities, aimed at facilitating your ongoing learning and development to enhance your skills whilst working at APM.

Some of these modules (subject to your qualification, experience and with management agreement) will also allow you to perform work in other key service lines at APM e.g. Life/Risk Insurance.

Leadership

APM also proudly offer the Advance Leadership Training program which is supplemented by Online Modules.
