health professionals work injury management

APM provides occupational rehabilitation services to individuals with disability, injury or health related conditions. APM works closely with doctors and health professionals to improve the social and economic participation of these individuals in the Australian community.

APM views its involvement with health professionals as a partnership, with both parties working to achieve the optimum outcome for the individual involved.

Individuals referred to APM may be the recipient of workers' compensation, income protection or Compulsory Third Party (CTP) compensation benefits, seeking activity test exemption from Centrelink, or may have been referred for some other reason related to an injury, disability or medical condition.

APM’s involvement with these clients may range from short, discreet services to full occupational rehabilitation programs. With the individual’s permission, APM may contact a client’s treating health professionals in the course of delivering these services. Doctors and health professionals are also able to refer directly to APM. Indicators for referral may include:

  • Lack of clarity regarding available duties or workplace modification

  • More than seven days off work

  • The injury is psychological (e.g. stress, anxiety)

  • There have been repeat illnesses or claims of injury

APM can assist treating health professionals by providing valuable information regarding the workplace, duties, etc.

APM consultants are also happy to meet with health professionals to case conference individual cases in order to identify and resolve barriers to progress.
