Early Intervention

Injury Prevention and Management

Early Intervention

Early Intervention is the single most critical factor in achieving return to work outcomes that are both successful for individuals and their organisation.

APM's Early Intervention program enables employers to make early referrals for interventions such as:

Incident Advisory Service

The APM Incident Advisory Service has been developed for employers who wish to provide immediate intervention to their employees in response to an illness or injury.

Once an illness/injury has occurred, the site manager contacts the APM Incident Advisory Service and is able to speak directly to an APM rehabilitation professional.

APM rehabilitation professionals will provide advice to the manager and injured employee in relation to managing the illness/injury including seeking appropriate medical treatment, return to work options and claims lodgement where appropriate.

Fast Track Referral Service

APM Fast Track Referral Service is a rapid response service aimed at returning the injured worker to work as quickly as possible.

Once an injury has occurred, APM will complete a Work Place Assessment within 48 hours of notification by the employer and will develop a proposed Suitable Duties Program. Liaison is then held with the nominated treating doctor to discuss the Suitable Duties Program and to obtain sign off for the Program. The injured employee returns to work and is monitored in the workplace at one and three weeks post return to work to ensure sustainability.

APM's qualified Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists and Rehabilitation Consultants conduct the APM Fast Track Referral process, enabling employers to rapidly and independently manage workplace incidents.

Outsourced Return to Work Coordination

APM Return to Work Coordination service assists employers to manage the entire return to work process for their employees from incident and injury management to return to full work capacity.

There is a requirement in all states and territories for employers to be actively involved in the return to work of injured workers. A number of states require employers to employ a designated Return to Work Coordinator to manage this function.

Many employers feel they do not have the skills internally to manage the treatment, rehabilitation and claims management aspects of workplace injury. APM's specialist consultants can provide the assistance required in an outsourced or advisory capacity.

Usual Duties Register

An APM Usual Duties Register is a summary of the physical demands of the core job positions and tasks within an organisation.

The Usual Duties Register can reduce lost time injuries by assisting employers and medical practitioners to make earlier and better informed decisions about an injured workers return to work options. Used in conjunction with medical advice it enables the employer to ensure that appropriate suitable duties are available for the injured worker to complete as part of their return to work program.

APM's qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists can develop usual duties registers based on the specific requirements of the organisation.
