Pre-Employment Assessments

Pre-Employment Assessments are the key to a successful employee selection process. Ensuring the right fit of an employee to the job demands can reduce lost time due to injuries, and lower associated costs including workers compensation premiums.

APM's Pre-Employment Assessments offer employers the most effective and relevant assessments for potential employees, centrally administered and delivered in the most efficient, timely and cost-effective manner.

APM's Pre-Employment Assessments can also incorporate the delivery of medical services as part of the pre-employment assessment. Services offered are as follows:

Functional Capacity Screen

An APM Functional Capacity Screen determines the 'fit' of an employment candidate's physical abilities with the demands of a target job.

The Functional Capacity Screen determines the capacity of an individual to safely perform a job and indicate the likelihood of a sprain/strain injury. It also assesses whether a candidate approaches the simulated tasks in a safe and correct manner.

It is the assessment of choice for customers with Pre-Employment Screening needs. In combination with a Job Analysis, Functional Capacity Screens can be used to recommend the suitability of a job or suggest job modifications, equipment or manual handling techniques to achieve the ideal match between the job and the individual.

Audiometry and Vision Screen

An APM Audiometry and Vision Screen is for employers who elect to adopt the Physical Screen as the tool for their Pre-Employment Screening and who also require baseline measurement of additional medical components such as hearing and vision.

APM's specialists can develop a hybrid assessment for its customers to incorporate these components:

  • Audiometry - allows baseline hearing capacity measurement
  • Vision - can be either visual acuity (requiring wall chart) or color vision (requiring the Ishihara test book)
  • Spirometry - lung function assessment.
Equal Opportunity legislation requires the employer to demonstrate that a correlation exists between the factors being measured in the Pre-Employment Assessment and the inherent the job requirements.
