The Student Employment Program is a specialised Government funded service which can support young people with their transition into sustainable employment.
APM can provide assistance to students with a disability or health condition (including: learning, physical, sensory, mental health and ABI) to find and keep a job. APM can assist students while they are in school and continue to support them once they leave school. APM can also assist if the student left school less than 12 months ago.
APM offers a combination of vocational rehabilitation and specialist employment assistance. Through regular meetings, APM will assist the student to find the right job that matches their strengths, abilities and skills. APM can identify the relevant services required to overcome their barriers, source suitable employment opportunities and work with the students to get the job, such as helping them build a resume, maintain motivation and develop job skills through work experience, vocational training, etc.
Once students obtain employment, APM will continue to help them by staying in contact with the relevant supports needed, arranging for assessment and modification of their workplace if required, and provide support at the workplace for at least 6 months in order to help them keep their job and consequently build a successful career path.
