APM to deliver aged care assessments

The Government has awarded APM this work in 22 regions across Australia, predominantly in Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, as well as in New South Wales (Victoria and WA were not part of this tender).

The new service will assess the need for entry-level support, including housework, meal preparation, transport and personal care, for older members of communities.

"It's pleasing that APM's assessment services have been recognised by the Australian Government and we look forward to assisting people through the 'My Aged Care Regional Assessment Service'," said APM's Group Chief Executive Officer, Michael Hobday.

"APM's experience, track record and national footprint of over 300 locations will enable us to deliver high quality, timely and effective assessments to assist older members of our community.

"It will help to streamline home support services, with the aim of enabling older Australians to stay in their own homes for longer."

One of the key features of the new assessment model is that throughout the process, a client-centred record will be developed and then used, so that those being assessed will not have to repeat their stories.

"Between now and the commencement date, APM will prepare to commence the delivery of aged care assessment services by enhancing our already-strong human resources and network of sub-contractors," Mr Hobday said.

"The addition of aged care assessments adds to the broad range of human services that APM delivers, which already includes employment services, injury management services, allied health interventions and community care services.

"APM will soon become one of the largest human services providers in Australia."
