Cairns employers are being asked to help generate 25 jobs for people with a disability.

Disability employment services provider APM hosted a JumpStart event to show businesses how meaningful employment could benefit their bottom line and help job seekers transition off welfare.

Cairns APM Business Manager Ulanda Cannon said hiring disabled job seekers had financial benefits and improved the lives of some of society's most vulnerable.

"We offer a free service and additional support, so we work with business to ensure success in placing job seekers," Ms Cannon said. "It's very positive."

Mama Coco manager Steven Cook said new recruit Duncan Dyer, 21, had quickly become a part of the team.

Mr Dyer was diagnosed with a cognitive disorder which limits his learning capability.
