Perth Jump Start aims for 160 jobs in four weeks

Business owners and employers have joined APM in Perth for the launch of their campaign to find work for at least 160 job seekers in four weeks.

The Jump Start event at Hotel Rendezvous in Scarborough promoted the benefits available to local businesses when teamed up with APM to fill their vacancies.

APM is a provider of the Australian Government’s jobactive program which aims to help more people into work while rewarding businesses with job-matching services, wage subsidies and other benefits.

Employers were also able to learn about the support available from APM after they hire staff through them, such as an employee support program and access to required job training or special tools or equipment.

APM teams from across the north Perth region attended the event to meet local employers and learn more about their business needs.

As part of the jobactive program, APM’s employment consultants match individuals to a business’s requirements, providing businesses with a free recruitment service of employees suited for their tasks and job roles.

The event also showed employers how they could benefit from government wage subsidies which provide businesses with up to $10,000 when taking on an employee through APM.

Employers attending the event were invited to help improve the lives of 160 local people by hiring them for their business.

APM’s teams will update employers on the progress of the campaign as they work towards 160 job placements over the next four weeks.

It’s the first jobactive Jump Start for APM and follows previous Jump Starts across Australia where APM’s Disability Employment Services (DES) teams have successfully showcased the benefits of hiring people with disabilities to local employers.

APM delivers both jobactive and DES programs nationwide, engaging with more than 40,000 job seekers at any one time.

The human services organisation, that also delivers programs in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, is the Australian Government’s largest contracted provider of Disability Employment Services.

Across the organisation, APM delivers services to improve the lives of 130,000 people every year.
