Rob completes a London Marathon personal best

Tens of thousands of runners set out to complete the London Marathon at the weekend and were even joined by British astronaut Tim Peake who broke into his stride on a treadmill, on board the International Space Station somewhere over the Pacific Ocean.

We had two APM'ers who were taking part as well, Rob Houlston and Jemma Knight, both of them from our National Citizen Service (NCS) team.

After months of rigorous training for the event, the moment had arrived for them both and duly set out to pound the streets of the Capital.

Rob managed to complete a personal best time of 3 hours and 20 minutes, although by his own admission on his Facebook page the last five miles were tough.

Rob was running for the miscarriage association, a charity close to his heart after personal experiences and aims to raise £1500 when all monies have been paid in.

Rob said: "I'm proud have run and raised money for the miscarriage association, it is great to know that I'm able to make a difference through something I enjoy.

"I've been blown away by all the friends and colleagues who have sponsored me so generously, and I would like express my sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone who has sponsored me."

We're not too sure how NCS Activities Coordinator Jemma got on as she is taking a well-earned day off!

Well done to both for an amazing effort.
