A group of teenagers from Worcester have raised over £400 for a mental health charity as part of the National Citizen Service programme.
The students from Malvern staged a sponsored bike ride, a cake sale at Malvern Cube and a gig at Malvern Town FC.
The group's mentor, Harriet Thompson, said that the events had raised £439.00 for Olly's Friendship Foundation, which provides support for people suffering from severe anxiety.
She said:"It's a brilliant result, considering we only started the fundraising on the Friday and in just a few days had raised a big total. Everyone worked together really well."
The National Citizen Service scheme is a government-backed initiative which encourages young people to get more involved in their local communities.
She said: "Everyone who took part said they would 100 per cent recommend the National Citizen Service to their friends. They say they gained so much in increased confidence and learning to work with other people."
The group was visited by Worcester MP Harriett Baldwin, who said:"It was great to visit a local group to see what they get up to. I was enormously impressed by the group's ambition and drive.
"I am told there are still places available this summer and I would encourage as many people as possible to sign up for one of these schemes if they are eligible.
"It is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and do something positive in your own local community."
